I miss writing in coffees shops

I’m a writer, editor, and creator — working on my own is my norm.

But, working alone at home for six months straight is NOT my norm.

I really, seriously miss working in coffee shops.

My service dog’s first public training activity? How to chill out while I write at a coffee shop, even with folks dropping crumbs and paying her way more attention than they should (BTW, she rocks at ignoring rude humans).

I’ve had to get creative in discerning what needs writing in coffee shops was meeting that simply sitting here at my desk doesn’t. Then I had to get creative in finding solutions. It’s been an adventure.

Here are my three top favorite tools for helping to recreate that coffee shop writing experience:

The Coffitivity App

I can really dig deep into focus mode if I set myself up at my desk in the morning, hot coffee at my left, this app in my earbuds.

I was super skeptical when I first heard about it, but seriously?

It helps sooo much.

There is a free and paid version. My favorite is Morning Murmur in the free app.

Give it a try today and, please, let me know if it works for you too!

My Travel Mug

Taking that wee little extra moment to fill my travel mug has made a surprisingly big mind-shift once I sit down and get to work.

I mean, I’ve got my travel mug, obviously I’m here to work, right?

It’s a pleasant surprise how big an impact using my pretty pink travel mug has made in my mornings here at home.
