In spite of everything I shall rise again: I will take up my pencil, which I have forsaken in my great discouragement, and I will go on with my drawing.” Vincent Van Gogh

For about 18 months I didn’t do much of anything creative.

I stopped blogging.

I did NOT host my annual Fall In-Love w/ Yourself February series :(

I didn’t finish any of my projects already begun.

I didn’t work on our brand-new-to-us yard, which is a darn shame because dandelions don’t care about depression or trauma or the wretched immobility that too often comes with them.

A link list of articles for men who want to help end sexual violence

And every 9 minutes, that victim is a child. Meanwhile, only 25 out of every 1,000 perpetrators will end up in prison. -RAINN Statistics Page

The following comes from Montreat College:

  • “… because men know survivors. Statistically, it is very likely that someone you know and care about has been sexually assaulted (whether you are aware of it or not). In the U.S. alone, more than one million women and girls are raped each year. If a friend, girlfriend, sister, or other person discloses a sexual assault, you need to be prepared to respond with sensitivity, compassion, and understanding. …

Materialism is a Mormon value

“Mormons in particular have a lot of faith, and that is sometimes coupled with the attitude that if you’re keeping the commandments, you’ll be blessed financially. With MLMs, there’s always people at the top that are very rich and successful,” Hill said. -Marinda Risk

If Latter-day Saints are specially susceptible to materialism, this may be because materialism is a corruption of a virtue in which Latter-day Saints take special pride. Materialism is a seductive distortion of self-reliance. The corruption occurs through carrying the virture of “providing for our own” to the point of excess…

Mine is just one person’s autistic stimming story

Stimming refers to self-stimulating behaviors.

Everyone does them.

The difference between ‘normal’ and neurodivergent stimming is often just a matter of degrees — of intensity, duration, expression.

Some red flags I missed that I hope you take to heart

Please note that exhibiting some of these behaviors might not make someone a rapist-to-be, but being aware, alert and wearing in response to these traits is still likely called for.

Does displaying any of these traits mean, for sure, that this guy is a rapist?

AND these are known warning signs of people who do sexually assault others. No one likes to think the person they’ve agreed to meet for coffee, or been dating for a few weeks or more could be someone who will, possibly, do…

Pay attention

TW: Domestic Violence

A man needs to be polite, not just to me but to everyone. I watch that. How does he treat the waiter? How does he treat the coat-check girl? How does he treat the driver? —Adriana Lima

On Friday, August 27th, Nina Celie Angelo witnessed Gabby Petito and Bryan Laundrie at a Jackson Hole, WY restaurant where she was eating lunch at. Later, Nina told news reports about what she witnessed:

“I have chills right now,” Nina Celie Angelo told Fox News Digital Wednesday. …

“He, like, grabbed my face.” Gabby Petito

“He, like, grabbed my face.” Gabby Petito

I’ve watched the full body cam footage released by the Moab Police Department more than once. I felt a need to understand what happened in those interactions. I was hoping to see that all officers involved responded with a clear understanding of domestic violence — how victims often come across in interviews, how perpetrators tend to portray themselves, and how to discern possible levels of threat for the victim.

Didn’t mean to fall, but I did

“Maybe life isn’t about avoiding the bruises. Maybe it’s about collecting the scars to prove that we showed up for it.” — Hannah Brencher

A little over 2 years ago I had my hair dyed blue.

I LOVED it ❤

“Outside of a dog, a book is a man’s best friend. Inside of a dog, it’s too dark to read.” — Groucho Marx

I had a heck of an up and down week business-wise. Made an investment in a major tech upgrade that has instantly made my life easier AND discovered I hadn’t done enough research on paper punch /binding machines — the one I bought last month will NOT do what I need it to do for my 2022 printed planners.

Like, not enough close enough.

So, sadly, much of my time this week has been more reading…

Learn better, then do better.

“…I know this world. I live in it too. There’s no shelter or safety or escape from the cruel stares and comments, the too-small seats, the too-small everything for your too-big body.” Roxane Gaye gay Hunger: A Memoir of (My) Body

From my understanding, offering dietary advice unasked for in relation to an article about a disease that ‘healthy’ eating cannot control, especially at such a late stage, is a form of ableism and fat shaming.

If the commentor had Googled terms such as “Can lipedema be cured or controled by diet” or “Is late…
