I’ve sat in a very similar situation only our couples therapist got fed up with my narcissist ex acting as if that was all such a boring waste of his time that she stopped mid sentence to ask him, “what are you even you? Your wife is the one doing all the work!”

That was a lightbulb moment for me but, tragically, I stuck around for another 5 years or so believing the lies culturally fed me since birth that an intact family was better for my kids than a broken one. This lie had only been reinforced by my first divorce and witnessing how hard it was one my kids.
