Today Is My First Official Day Without A ‘Day Job’ And I’m Spending It In Bed

Well, not all of it in bed, thank goodness, but enough of it to stress me out!

Perimenopause is no joke and perimenopause with PMDD can be extra unfunny.

My cycles have gotten shorter and much heavier, my uterus attacking more frequently AND more fiercely than ever before.

Put that on top of the mental and emotional roller coaster that is PMDD and this is not fun at all.

Here it is, 11:24am and I’ve already been through FOUR tampons since getting up at 8.

Four tampons in a little over 3 hours.

This shit is intense.

Somehow I got to this point thinking perimenopause meant my periods would just slowly get farther apart and lighter until, magically, one day I just woke up and realized with delight it had been over a year since my last period.

But, nope.

That isn’t how this is going at all.

So this morning I got up, enjoyed coffee and a sunny morning while writing at my desk — as best as one can write while their uterus tries to rip them apart from the inside anyway, got a short piece finished and submitted to a publication, compiled and organized my research gathered for another piece, got…
