We visited the in-laws yesterday and my mother-in-law asked me what I would be if money/time/health were not an issue - like, what did I dream of becoming as a kid?

"A paleontologist" was my immediate, heartfelt reply.

And then there was the surprise.

The surprise always comes after someone hears something like that from me, a disabled, fat, walker, using nearly 50something human.

Like, really?...

Does everyone just assume I haven't lost anything to the betrayals of disability?...

I had dreams, I still have dreams, but disability gets to call the shots and I really wish more abled bodied people could grasp the concept - we are lazy, we haven't given up - we'd have our lives stolen by our disability...

I'm so hopeful you will get these surgeries and be given a large, abundant part of your life back!!!
